UV light-absorbing active compounds are found in chemical sunscreens. Chemical sunscreen formulae are often less obvious on the skin, appear and feel less noticeable, and are easier to apply than physical and combination sunscreens. They also mix in nicely with other skincare and makeup products.
Avobenzone, cinoxate, dioxybenzone, ensulizole, homosalate, meradimate, octinoxate, octisalate, octocrylene, oxybenzone, padimate O, or sulisobenzone are among the active components that the FDA has approved for sale in the US. One of our recommendations is an imported formula with active substances that have not been approved by the FDA, which can be bought in the US from specialty stores.
